Matt Hardy’s recent injury wasn’t the full story—and the real update now is just how rough things are for both Hardy Boyz heading into TNA Rebellion.

After previously revealing a nose injury from a chaotic tables match, Matt Hardy gave a more serious update on the April 10 edition of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast—and it turns out both he and Jeff Hardy are dealing with multiple issues going into TNA Rebellion.

Matt started by breaking down Jeff’s condition, making it clear this isn’t just a minor setback—it’s something he’s been dealing with for a while. He added that it’s not just the neck, as Jeff is also dealing with back problems at the same time.

“Jeff, you know, still is dealing with some bulging discs in his neck, which has been bothering him for a while. He’s also got a little bit of a lower back problem—his lower back is a little tight on him right now.”

Matt then shifted focus to his own condition—and it’s not exactly light either. On top of that, he revealed he’s also dealing with lingering head-related issues from repeated hits.

“I have bruised ribs, which I am trying to overcome, and that came from getting knocked from behind and knocked down the stairs. And then on top of that, I am dealing with some head issues from getting hit over and over.”

He didn’t try to downplay the physical toll either, pointing out just how beaten up he looked coming out of the recent matches. Matt even compared the damage to one of the most violent moves in wrestling, showing how intense things have been: “Yeah, no doubt. And as you could see—I was busted up. No doubt. It was like the Trinity Killer got a hold of me.”

He also noted that the aftermath of the tables match didn’t just stop when the bell rang, especially for Jeff. With all of that stacked up, Matt made it clear there’s no avoiding the reality of the situation heading into Rebellion.

“And then after that tables match, we were both selling pretty big—and especially Jeff Hardy got that one last blow after the match at the very end, which hurt him quite a bit. So we’re both going to be banged up going into our big match with The System here at Rebellion.”

But despite everything, he ended on a defiant note—making it clear they’re still planning to go through with it and prove something.

“But, you know, we’re the Hardy Boyz—and nobody has heart like that Hardy heart. And we’re going to show everyone, remind everyone who we are, and why we have the guts and the nuts to fight through everything.”

This changes the outlook heading into Rebellion. What was already a high-stakes TNA Tag Team Title defense against the System now comes with both champions far from 100 percent. The question now isn’t just whether they can win—but how much they can withstand.

Do you think the Hardy Boyz should still compete at Rebellion despite being this banged up, or should they take time off to recover? Drop your thoughts and feedback below.
