TNA Wrestling’s Bound For Glory 2025 saw the Hardys defeat Team 3D in a classic tables match, after which Team 3D effectively retired from in-ring competition. Following the bout, the Hardys admitted they were surprised Team 3D retired.
TNA took to their Twitter and uploaded a video of Matt and Jeff Hardy, where Matt said he was confident going into the match because both he and Jeff were in great shape and had been wrestling regularly, while Team 3D hadn’t competed in a while.
Matt Hardy thought they would win and prove themselves as the better team. He explained that Team 3D came out swinging, hitting 3Ds early but the real surprise came at the end when they removed their boots, a sign that they were retiring. Matt said he and Jeff didn’t expect that and called it the ultimate show of respect.
“I was confident we were going to beat Team 3D. We were on a regular grind, we’re both physically fit. Those guys hadn’t done this in a while, so I thought we’d get the W and establish ourselves as the better of the two teams.
They came out looking for a knockout — 3Ds right out the gate. But what shocked me was when the match ended, they took off their boots. They called it a career. We did not expect that. They… they gave us their boots, which was the ultimate sign of respect.”
Jeff called the moment an honor, saying it gave them confidence and momentum to keep going, knowing that something that meaningful had happened that night.
“What an honor. That right there gave us confidence and momentum for however long we keep doing this, knowing that that happened tonight.”
Matt added that it had been an incredible week since they became NXT Tag Team Champions, House of Glory Tag Team Champions, and then retired the Dudley Boyz. He ended by saying that anyone who doesn’t think the Hardys are the best in the game right now is wrong, declaring, “The GOATs are here.”
“What a week. We became the NXT Tag Team Champions, the House of Glory Tag Team Champions, and then we went on to retire the Dudley Boyz. If you don’t think we’re the best in the game right now, I don’t know what you’re thinking. I have four words for everyone — the GOATs are here.”
The Hardys’ emotional win over Team 3D at Bound For Glory 2025 was more than just a big match; it was a special farewell to one of wrestling’s greatest rivalries. Matt and Jeff showed real respect for Team 3D, and both teams proved why they changed tag team wrestling forever. Now fans are excited to see what’s next in store for the Hardys.
