The cross-promotional war between WWE NXT and TNA is heating up, and things could soon reach a new level with the possible involvement of The Hardy Boyz.
According to Fightful Select, Matt and Jeff Hardy have been pitched to join the ongoing invasion storyline—bringing even more star power to what’s already becoming one of wrestling’s most unpredictable alliances.
The storyline kicked off with a TNA invasion of NXT this past Tuesday, and plans are in place for the program to extend well beyond TNA’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view. There are no TNA television tapings scheduled directly after that event, but a November date is listed for Orlando with no specific venue announced. This has led to speculation that TNA could film upcoming content at the WWE Performance Center.
If that happens, the arrival of The Hardy Boyz would be a game-changer. The legendary duo are currently in their third reign as TNA World Tag Team Champions and remain one of the most accomplished tag teams in wrestling history.
Their creative run in TNA produced some of the most iconic cinematic segments in modern wrestling, including The Final Deletion, and turned the Hardys into one of the most sought-after acts in the business. Few teams can claim championships in WWE, WCW, TNA, and ROH—but the Hardys have done just that.
The initial NXT invasion featured a wave of recognizable names, but not everyone was used. Some talent were held back based on WWE’s preferences, leaving the door open for bigger names to enter the fray later on. With Matt and Jeff both carrying gold and possessing deep ties to WWE history, their potential involvement could take the storyline to an entirely new level.
