Goldberg’s name is being floated around internally in WWE, fueling speculation that the Hall of Famer could be gearing up for a return. After his tense showdown with GUNTHER at WWE Bad Blood, many expected a match to follow, but WWE hasn’t revisited the angle — until now.
The upcoming rematch between GUNTHER and Jey Uso on the June 9th episode of Monday Night Raw in Phoenix, Arizona has sparked speculation that it could be setting up a future confrontation involving Goldberg. It’s not confirmed, but WWE is apparently planning an angle but the timing has raised eyebrows as WWE could be positioning GUNTHER for a big angle coming out of the Saudi Arabia PLE in June.
GUNTHER is set to challenge the winner of Jey Uso’s upcoming WWE World Heavyweight Championship defense against Logan Paul at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24th. With Goldberg reportedly preparing for a retirement match, the possibility of a clash with GUNTHER is gaining traction.
Goldberg recently revealed that he’s training for a retirement match and plans to go out on his own terms before the end of 2025. “I do not know who, when or where I’m wrestling,” he said, but he’s making it clear that he wants to end his career with a major showdown.
Goldberg’s last WWE match was a loss to Bobby Lashley at Crown Jewel 2022 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but a return to the ring against GUNTHER would certainly raise the stakes for his final outing.
