As John Cena prepares for what could be his final WWE match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, many fans expected one last verbal battle—this time with Gunther. But that promo war never happened, and according to Gunther, that’s perfectly fine.
The former WWE champion acknowledged during a conversation with The New York Post that sharing the mic with Cena would’ve been a major moment, especially since Cena is known for verbally torching his opponents in legendary back-and-forth segments. Still, Gunther isn’t losing any sleep over the missed opportunity.
“Oh yeah, for sure. I mean, he’s like maybe the best on the mic to ever do it—or one of the best. Like, people can argue whatever they want about those things, but he’s definitely in the top category. So it would have been good for experience-wise to get the chance. Didn’t work out. It’s fine. Is what it is. I’m more focused on the match anyway.”
While some stars chase viral promos, Gunther has his eyes on leaving a mark where it matters most—in the ring. He doesn’t need words to define the moment. He plans to let the fight speak for itself.
