GUNTHER isn’t holding back when it comes to his thoughts on WrestleMania 41. The World Heavyweight Champion has made it clear—he’s not excited about facing Jey Uso in Las Vegas.
Speaking with Daily Mail, The Ring General doubled down on his stance from WWE Raw two weeks ago, saying, “I’m not interested in wrestling Jey at WrestleMania.”
His reasoning? He wanted a bigger challenge. “I was looking for somebody who is one of the last few remaining guys on the roster that I would say are maybe one step ahead of me, and it would have been nice to be in there with one of them, to bring them down one inch and make a step up.”
Still, while GUNTHER isn’t thrilled about the match, he does recognize Jey’s momentum with the fans.
“I think the Rumble was packed like never before. With Jey, there was basically the underdog winning in all of this. But also, on the other hand, he’s maybe the most popular guy we have right now, and people would really want to see him succeed. And they’re strapped in to follow him along this whole ride to WrestleMania now.”
Despite giving Jey his props, GUNTHER made it clear that he’s tired of facing him. “I must have wrestled him, I don’t know, 30, 40 times including live events. And I’ve got to give it to him, in general, he’s a very likeable guy… but like I said, leave me out.”
Even though GUNTHER would rather be standing across the ring from someone else on April 19-20, the match is happening, and Jey Uso isn’t backing down. WrestleMania season is heating up, and with Charlotte Flair also set to take on WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton, the stage is being set for a massive two-night event.
