WWE fans have to wonder what is next for GUNTHER after a stellar 2025. He retired Goldberg, and then months later, he took John Cena out in his final match. Now he is looking toward the future, no matter how much heat he has.
Following his massive Saturday Night’s Main Event win, GUNTHER appeared on TMZ Inside The Ring and was asked directly about his future now that Cena’s career has ended.
With fans already speculating about major opponents, the moment invited a big reveal. GUNTHER chose restraint instead of going all out to spoil things for fans. After all, we all saw him get the boot from Adam Pearce during RAW this week.
“What does Gunther have his eyes set on now? What’s next for him?”
“Well, that we’ll see on Monday. Like, I was about to — on Mon— before going out on Monday, I was thinking, okay, what is the — what do I want to say today? Like, what is there that I want to tell the people and stuff?”
“And as soon as I walked out, I realized — there’s not much I can really — that I should tell them today because I’m going to enjoy the damage that has been done and how upset they are. So yeah, I’ll keep that to me till Monday and people are going to find out what’s next.”
When pressed about potential opponents such as Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar, Gunther acknowledged the possibilities without committing to a direction. The possibilities are wide open for the Ring General.
“Yeah, there’s a lot of potential. I think still untapped potential in terms of opponents. But yeah, that we’ll see.”
GUNTHER also addressed the reaction backstage, making it clear that any frustration over how Cena’s final match ended is not his concern.
“I think — I know a lot of people were not happy with what happened on Saturday and how it happened. I know a lot of people in the company were not happy with that. But that’s fine. If anyone’s got an issue with that… I think I’m very easy to find.”
Triple H also received a ton of backlash, but he seemed to love every moment of it. After all, The Game knows this business all too well. GUNTHER is obviously getting positioned to be a huge part of WWE’s future from this point on.
We will keep a close eye on GUNTHER, because he’s not done yet. That doesn’t mean he’s going to let anyone peak at his playbook.
