Gunther is going to have a busy night at the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble. He initially came out to declare himself in the battle royal match, but he got a contest with AJ Styles. It turns out he still plans on that first objective

One of the matches WWE has been pushing for the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event is AJ Styles vs. Gunther. That match has a big stipulation, because Styles has agreed to put his career on the line. It’s already a major situation for Styles, but now it’s also clear this isn’t a one-match night for Gunther.

In an interview with Gulf News, Gunther confirmed he’s wrestling twice at the Royal Rumble premium live event. Along with facing Styles, he’s also entering the men’s Royal Rumble match.

“My favorite match I’ve had in Saudi is definitely the King in the Ring final with Randy (Orton). It was a very big match for my career. Now we’re back here and it’s another great chance for myself to retire another legend and I’m also participating in the Royal Rumble, so I look forward to it.

"As someone who has spent the longest time in the Royal Rumble in WWE history, I’m looking forward to the challenge of fighting twice in one night. It’s another very special challenge for myself and I feel like I thrive in these situations so I’m very excited.”

Gunther sounds confident about doing double duty, and there is a reason for that. Since arriving on the main roster, he’s been positioned a top name in WWE, as he even retired John Cena and Goldberg along the way. His resume backs it up as the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history. He also held the WWE Heavyweight Championship for 666 days before Jey Uso made him tap out at WrestleMania 41.

We will have to see how Gunther’s double duty in Saudi Arabia pans out. Only time will tell if he will find himself with his hand raised twice by the end of the night.
