Kevin Nash sees something rare in Gunther—and he doesn’t want WWE screwing it up with bad booking.
During Kliq This, Nash didn’t hold back while praising Gunther’s current run as one of the most legitimate heels WWE has had in decades. The WWE Hall of Famer sees the Intercontinental Champion as a throwback to the kind of heat-generating bad guys who didn’t need a title to stay relevant.
“We have, for the first time, a f**ing guy that actually has heat,”* Nash said, pointing out that Gunther stands apart because fans genuinely want to see him lose—not just because they’re bored or indifferent.
But with WrestleMania season heating up and multiple titles in play, Nash made it very clear: putting Gunther into a traditional title feud could ruin everything.
“Don’t put him in a position where he has to f**ing make it about a belt. Keep him in personal feuds,”* he advised.
According to Nash, attaching Gunther to a championship angle would shift the focus away from what makes him special.
“If you constrain him to a title angle, then his heat is going to be hinged to that piece of metal — as opposed to his personality.”
The former WWE Champion said Gunther’s aura works best when it’s rooted in personal stakes and old-school psychology—not just chasing hardware. He compared it to Jody Hamilton’s heel tactics and the psychology-driven era he came up in. It’s the type of heat, Nash argues, that must be protected at all costs. And it’s not just a compliment—it’s a warning to WWE creative: don’t mess this up.
“You get heat on a character, you gotta keep heat. You can't fing let it die. Every time you shut that fing heat off, it's going to drop.”
Kevin Nash has seen a lot of talent come and go—but right now, he sees Gunther as something rare. If WWE lets the story play out the right way, they might have a generational heel on their hands.
Do you agree with Nash? Should Gunther stay out of the title picture to keep his momentum going, or is it time to pull the trigger on a world championship feud? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know.
