Grayson Waller just torched an entire style of wrestling—and he didn’t pull any punches.
During an appearance on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast, the outspoken WWE star took direct aim at lucha libre and its top stars, unloading a scathing rant that’s guaranteed to stir the pot. Waller opened fire by accusing masked wrestlers of using elaborate gear to hide their lack of physical conditioning.
“All these lucha guys like are starting to make me sick. You know, they all wear these big outfits because they can’t be bothered going to the gym and getting in shape. You know, they get a puppet on their hands so you don’t look at the fact they don’t have any abs.”
Then he took it up a notch with a line that’s sure to make headlines across wrestling locker rooms.
“It’s just all these out-of-shape blokes wearing like… they all kind of look like furries. They’re all wearing these weird masks and stuff pretending to do flips off the rope.”
But Waller wasn’t done. He tore into lucha wrestling as a whole, calling it “terrible” and implying that it’s a threat to the integrity of the sport. His target? None other than AEW’s Penta El Zero Miedo—referred to here as “Pentar”—whom Waller sees as the embodiment of everything wrong with the lucha tradition.
“I think Lucha wrestling’s terrible. And I hate that we’re stuck in this thing with Pentar, but he’s a very dangerous man. As The New, we’re here to save wrestling. We’re here to save wrestling from the Destroyer. We’re here to save wrestling from Lucha.”
He ended with a warning: the fight against lucha isn’t just a one-time shot—it’s a mission.
“So for the next few weeks, this is what we’re focused on. We’re going to get rid of Destroyer and hopefully get rid of Lucha wrestling as well… ’cause I’m sick of it.”
Waller’s brutal critique has already divided fans online. Some see it as a fiery heel promo. Others think he crossed a line by mocking a deeply respected wrestling tradition that helped shape the industry globally.
Whether it’s pure character work or a peek into how he really feels, Waller’s comments just put lucha libre in his crosshairs—and he’s not pulling back.
