Goldberg didn’t walk away from his retirement match unscathed—but he’s not complaining. After going to war with GUNTHER at Saturday Night’s Main Event, the WWE Hall of Famer gave fans a rare peek at just how rough things were on his body after the bell.

During his appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Goldberg opened up about what hurt most after the 14-minute slugfest, and the answer might surprise you. Despite decades of wear and tear, he said it was his hand that bothered him the most—but that’s just scratching the surface.

When Ariel asked if he came out of the match seriously injured—especially after being launched through the barricade—Goldberg credited stem cell therapy for getting him to the finish line in one piece.

“Accelerator, man, I’m telling you when I—I’m not going to sit here and do a commercial, but there’s no way in hell I could have done that, Ariel, without going to get the stem cells. Absolutely no way. The body that I’ve lived with prior to that couldn’t have accomplished it.”

As for how he felt waking up the next morning?

“So yeah, man… I woke up and my hand was swollen. I don’t know what happened. I think I might have gone through the—who knows, who cares. To be able to get out of that match, because of my knees—I got a bad knee and everybody complains about, ‘Oh, he’s limping.’ I should be limping. I earned a limp.”

And even though his hand was hurting, Goldberg made it clear he was going to finish this match on his terms—no matter the cost.

“And if I gotta go in with shoulder pads and a helmet and a knee brace on, I’m going in. But I’m going out like a warrior, right? So yeah, my knee’s bad, my shoulder’s bad, but the stem cells allowed me—my neck’s bad—stem cells allowed me to go in there and give it my best at whatever age that I am.”

He wasn’t done there. He stood firm on just how vital those treatments were for pulling off his swan song performance.

“And I could not have done it—there was no way I could have done it without them. So I am an absolute firm believer, and wow, what a difference. Just unbelievable.”

Goldberg walked out of WWE for the last time battered but proud. He earned every limp, bruise, and swollen joint—and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
