Goldberg is inching closer to his long-awaited WWE return, and the Hall of Famer just gave fans a promising update on his physical condition ahead of his retirement match.
After months of speculation and internal talks within WWE, the 58-year-old wrestling icon is serious about going out on his own terms—and GUNTHER may be the man standing across from him when that happens.
During a recent episode of the Carcast podcast, Goldberg broke his silence with a brief but hopeful status report. “I feel a little bit better, I’ve gained a little bit of weight man. Done a little kickboxing on the weekends. I’m getting there man, I’ve got a little bit of time left. Slowly but surely, Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
Goldberg also revealed that he’s currently injury-free, which could pave the way for his first match since losing to Bobby Lashley at Crown Jewel 2022. “Believe me, it’s been really tough to control myself but I think I’m on a good schedule. I’m injury free as of right now.”
As for his shoulder—one of the key areas that’s kept him sidelined—Goldberg compared his rehab to restoring a classic car. “Much better. I mean, geez, I can do things with it — I couldn’t do anything with it in December. It’s one of those things — it’s like rebuilding a car. You’ve got to strip it down to the bare minimum and sequentially build it in a logical form. It applies with a vehicle, it applies with your body. I can’t get overzealous and put shit on before it’s time. It’s a very slow process but I think the way I’m going about it is hopefully gonna work.”
With Goldberg previously confirming that his retirement match will take place in 2025 during the summer, WWE’s booking decisions over the next few months are suddenly under the microscope. It being speculated that GUNTHER’s upcoming match against Jey Uso on the June 9 episode of RAW could lay the groundwork for a final showdown between the Ring General and Goldberg, especially coming off their intense face-off at WWE Bad Blood.
If Goldberg’s latest comments are any indication, he’s not just preparing physically—he’s determined to finish his career on his own terms, and WWE could finally be giving him that platform.
