WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg isn’t known for letting his guard down — but the powerhouse wrestler kicked off 2026 by showing fans a softer, more personal side.

In a Instagram video shared on New Year’s Day, Goldberg dropped the tough-guy persona for a minute to pay tribute to his son, Gage Goldberg, a football player at the University of Colorado. With no bowl game this season, Gage has been home — and it gave Goldberg a front-row seat to his son’s relentless offseason grind.

“What I have learned about him over this past month has really opened my eyes. I’ve known that he’s a leader, that he is extremely dedicated, that he is consistent, and that he is driven. But watching it up close daily for the last month has been pretty unbelievable.”

Goldberg shared that Gage has been driving four hours round trip twice a week — from their home to Austin — just to train for a few hours with strength coach Tim Riley. And even after a night of celebrating the New Year, Gage didn’t sleep in.

“At six o’clock, I wake up to my son, hovering over me, saying that he’s leaving to go to Austin this morning. I am absolutely floored at this kid’s dedication. I am unbelievably proud as a parent.”

It was a rare glimpse into the private life of the former Universal Champion, who admitted he doesn’t usually share emotional posts with the public. In the video caption, Goldberg wrote:

“I think somebody hijacked my account because I don’t usually open up like this to the public, but everybody has someone who inspires them. I thought I’d share with you one who inspires me! @goldberg21_99 you never cease to amaze me kid one day the world will find out what a special human being you are, and I think it’s gonna be sooner than later!”

Goldberg closed the post in classic Goldberg fashion, writing, “Now back to driving fast blowing sh*t up and exhaling smoke through my nose!!” While fans know him for destruction inside the ring, this moment reminded everyone that behind the intensity is a proud father watching his son build a legacy of his own — with grit, drive, and no excuses.
