Goldberg didn’t just close the curtain on his in-ring career—he turned his WWE retirement match into a full-blown life celebration.

During his July 15 appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, the wrestling icon revealed that he flew in nearly 100 personal guests from around the world to witness his final battle against GUNTHER at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta.

The guest list wasn’t just family—it was filled with close friends, former teammates, business associates, and high-profile names that have shaped his journey from the NFL to WWE stardom. Goldberg made it clear this wasn’t just about a match—it was about honoring everyone who helped him get there.

“I had my retirement match, I had 91 people flying from all around the world. You know, they were personal guests of mine. I don’t know if I want to kick-start that again and say, ‘Hey guys, guess what? I didn’t retire. I’m going to go one more time.’”

After the show, WWE helped organize a last-minute backstage gathering where Goldberg was surrounded by the people he says defined his journey—from his football past to his wrestling legacy.

“Afterwards we had a room in the back that was put together at the last minute—and thank the WWE or TKO group or whoever did it. But I looked around the room and I had, man, people from all walks of life…”

“Whether it was ex-Falcons teammates or whether it’s Too Lamb or whether it’s my good friend who pretty much runs this town who flew in on his private plane—he’d never been to a wrestling match before—my accountant, or my wife, or my son, Josh Barnett…”

“Everybody that was there was of the same character and we’re all alphas in our own respect and we lead by example. And there needs to be more people like that.”

This wasn’t just a farewell to the ring—it was Goldberg writing the final chapter on his own terms, with his tribe by his side. Whether they came from sports, entertainment, or business, these were the people he wanted in the room when it all ended.
