The confusion surrounding the NXT Women’s Championship picture didn’t last long, because an official update has now cleared things up ahead of Stand & Deliver.

After the chaotic ending to the March 31 episode of NXT in New York City, fans were left wondering who would challenge Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Championship. The main event between Kendal Grey and Lola Vice ended in controversy, with Grey scoring a pinfall while Vice appeared to have her trapped in a submission at the same time. As the show went off the air, there was no clear ruling, leaving the title match situation up in the air.

Less than 24 hours later, NXT General Manager Robert Stone addressed the situation directly on social media with a video message explaining what really happened and confirming the official decision for Stand & Deliver. Stone began by reflecting on the wild night at Madison Square Garden before breaking down the controversial finish that caused the confusion. He then revealed that a second official had spotted something that changed the outcome of the match entirely.

“What an amazing night it was for NXT at MSG less than 24 hours ago. And look, I know there was some confusion in the main event between Kendall Gray and Lola Vice. Kendall had Lola pinned while Lola had Kendall in a submission hold. And as the referee in the ring was counting three, our head referee on the outside of the ring saw Kendall Gray tapping out after talking to Shawn Michaels.”

Because both competitors had valid claims — one scoring a pinfall and the other forcing a submission — NXT leadership ultimately made a decision that dramatically changes the championship match at Stand & Deliver. Stone closed his announcement by promoting the upcoming premium live event and promising a major showdown when the championship is on the line.

“We've come up with this at Stand and Deliver. JC Jane will defend the NXT Women's championship against both Kendall Gray and Lola Vice in a triple threat match.”

“So thank you. And I look forward to seeing everyone this Saturday in St. Louis for what will be an epic Stand and Deliver.”

This update finally clears the air after a confusing finish that left fans chanting and questioning what really happened. Instead of choosing one clear challenger, NXT has now raised the stakes by turning the title defense into a triple threat match, giving both Kendal Grey and Lola Vice a shot at the championship.

With Jacy Jayne now set to defend her NXT Women’s Championship against two challengers instead of one, the pressure heading into Stand & Deliver just increased in a big way. Triple threat matches can shift momentum quickly, and this situation gives both challengers a path to victory without needing to pin the champion directly.

Do you think NXT made the right call by turning this into a triple threat match, or should they have declared a single clear contender instead? Drop your thoughts in the comments and share your feedback.
