Gail Kim isn’t sitting quietly while her contributions to TNA Wrestling get brushed aside.
Just one day after TNA President Carlos Silva publicly addressed her March 2025 firing, the Hall of Famer hit back—reminding everyone she’s been fighting for the Knockouts Division long before any “reinvigoration” talk under Silva’s leadership.
On July 10, Kim took to Twitter/X with a two-part statement, clearly aimed at Silva’s comments about restructuring the division. She made it clear she wasn’t waiting around for anyone to take initiative—she was the initiative.
“On comments recently about the KO division needing to be reinvigorated, I want to let it be known that I was pushing for that for a year plus before Carlos Silva came in. To grow homegrown talent and do more with the KO division. I was fighting for that since Scott departed.”
Kim doubled down on her passion and weekly efforts, stating that no one should be questioning her loyalty to the brand or its women’s roster.
“My loyalty and passion towards the KO division should never be questioned and how I wanted that division to be upheld. I fought for them on the weekly. Just wanted my thoughts to be clearly delivered.”
This response followed Silva’s appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show on July 9, where he was asked about Kim’s firing after 17 years with the company. He didn’t pull punches, framing the move as part of a larger overhaul.
“So Gail, I mean Hall of Famer, TNA Hall of Famer, been there for years… You know, I think we just—when you come into an organization, you have to look at what’s working and what’s not working. And sometimes you have to make changes because you’ve got to move forward to continue the growth.”
Silva admitted that letting Kim go was one of the hardest decisions he’s made—but still defended it as necessary to shake things up.
“So we kind of got a little more aggressive in making some changes that we thought we needed to make to sort of reinvigorate the locker room, maybe reinvigorate the Knockouts Division—and I think we’ve done that. Elevate a few people that needed to be elevated and given some more responsibility. And that was one of the changes we made.”
He added that morale has been improving despite initial pushback from within the company.
“And look, so far, everyone’s responded well. We have a great team and some great camaraderie going right now.”
When asked about locker room backlash, Silva didn’t deny the emotional response—especially after reports of talent being blindsided by her exit.
“There are always going to be people that are upset. I mean, Gail had been there a long time. Of course, it wasn’t an easy decision to make. It’s the most difficult decision I’ve had to make so far in running TNA.”
“I think what’s important is what you do after that—and how you bring people together, how we bring the locker room together, how we share what’s going on with our talent and help them to feel like they’re part of the business.”
“So far, the feedback I’ve been getting is people like the way things feel now. They like the energy. I’m a big energy guy, I’m a big positive attitude person, and I think it makes a difference. So we’re trying to inject that into the organization.”
Kim’s firing in March came alongside the exits of Ariel Shnerner, Rob Kligman, and Michael Shewchenko—part of Silva’s broader restructuring. But her dismissal drew the loudest internal backlash, with several TNA talents voicing frustration and even considering early exits once their contracts expire.
Known for being a fierce advocate behind the scenes, Gail Kim had long been viewed by many wrestlers and staff as a voice of reason and creativity, not someone holding the company back. With WWE and AEW both reportedly expressing interest, her next move may not just be a comeback—it could reshape another company’s women’s division entirely.
Gail Kim didn’t just respond—she reclaimed the narrative. Whether or not Silva agrees, the wrestling world just got a reminder of why her name still carries weight.
