Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias may be a lifelong wrestling fan, but don’t expect to see him taking a bump anytime soon. While stars like Jelly Roll and Travis Scott are teasing in-ring appearances, Fluffy is keeping both feet firmly on the outside of the ropes.
In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, the comedy icon revealed exactly why he hasn’t pursued a physical role in wrestling, despite his passion for the sport. “I just gotta pass the physical, and that’s probably the main reason why I haven’t asked to participate in the ring, is I’m pushing 50,” Iglesias said. “I got in the ring one time and it was scary. It was scary.”
He didn’t mince words about how real it felt being inside the ropes, even without taking any hits himself. “You could feel the intensity. People say, ‘Oh man, it’s fake.’ No. Maybe it’s predetermined, but I felt the hits in the ring, and I wasn’t even the one getting hit. And so, yeah, I’m good. I’d rather be on the outside watching.”
Fluffy’s connection to wrestling runs deep. Growing up, he was a huge Hulk Hogan fan. But over time, his appreciation expanded to legends like Ricky Steamboat and “Macho Man” Randy Savage. And while he’s not lacing up boots, he’s still very much part of the wrestling world as a vocal supporter.
In the same interview, Iglesias also opened up about his personal wellness journey, including his experience with DDP Yoga—further proof that even if he’s not hitting the ropes, he’s still putting in the work.
