Danhausen’s arrival in WWE has sparked plenty of conversation — and now a WWE insider is speaking up as reactions continue to pour in.
The former AEW star appeared on the March 2 episode of Raw, marking his first appearance since debuting at Elimination Chamber days earlier. During the segment, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce introduced Danhausen to The Judgment Day, where he “cursed” Dominik Mysterio — a moment that eventually led to a championship change later in the night.
While fans and insiders have had mixed reactions to the signing, Gabe Sapolsky publicly defended Danhausen in a post on social media. Sapolsky admitted that even he once had doubts about the unique performer, but said he has learned that talents willing to take risks and keep pushing forward often prove people wrong.
“One thing I have learned is to bet on talent like Danhausen.”
He continued by praising Danhausen’s persistence and willingness to embrace something different in the wrestling world.
“People who prove the naysayers wrong (including myself), aren’t afraid to explore doing something new and different, immerse themselves in it and march forward despite all the ‘no’ answers. Much respect.”
Danhausen previously signed with All Elite Wrestling in early 2022 but spent much of 2024 off television. His final match there came at AEW Worlds End in December 2023. Now that he’s officially part of WWE programming, his character is already generating strong opinions — but Sapolsky’s comments make it clear that at least some inside WWE believe the company made the right move.
