AEW and NJPW have had a steady partnership in wrestling, but many fans feel that AEW isn’t treating the relationship as well as they should. In fact, Gabe Kidd has now weighed in on the partnership, calling AEW for disrespecting NJPW.
While speaking to Adrian Hernandez, Gabe Kidd was asked about his thoughts on AEW, especially regarding his thoughts on MJF and others acting like they don’t know who he is. He shared his frustration with the partnership between New Japan and AEW, stating that while AEW can come to Wrestle Kingdom and bring them over for Ring of Honor, it feels disrespectful.
“What type of partnership is this? Yeah, you guys can come to Wrestle Kingdom, you bring us over there, and we’re on Ring of Honor, it’s disrespectful.”
Kidd believes that AEW has already taken many of the top talents and doesn’t understand why they would do that. When asked where he would want to go in the future, Kidd made it clear that he doesn’t care about AEW. Right now, he is fully committed to New Japan and has no problem standing up for his company.
However, he mentioned that if he were to consider AEW, they would have to put him on a major show, as he believes he is a valuable asset to New Japan. He doesn’t care about what others in the industry say or think about him. Kidd stated that it’s his way or no way, comparing it to his mindset from Limp Bizkit at WrestleMania 17.
Well, it’s like, come on man, you already took half the roster. What are you trying to do here? I don’t care about going there. People ask me, ‘Where would you want to go in the future?’ Man, I don’t give a s*** about that. Right now, I’m Team New Japan. What are you talking about? I have no problem standing up for my company. But if I want to go over there, they’ve got to f****** put me on a main show, at least. You stupid? I’m a superstar. I’m a gold mine for New Japan that they’re sitting on right now. I don’t care about what any of these people who’ve been in this business longer than me say. I couldn’t give a f*** what you say. I’m going to do it, but it’s my way or the highway, bro. Like Limp Bizkit Mania 17, whenever it was.
Finally, Kidd pointed out that he doesn’t care about AEW and sees it as a win for him to take down an Executive Vice President of the company, which is Kenny Omega. For him, it’s about making a statement and doing things on his terms.
“I don’t care about AEW, man. What better way to say f*** AEW than to beat up an Executive Vice President there? You know, it’s a win-win for me.”
As for Gabe Kidd’s future, he is set to square off against Kenny Omega at AEW x NJPW Wrestle Dynasty next year, so we’ll have to see how he will fare in Omega’s return match. No matter what, it’s likely some fans will agree with what Kidd had to say about AEW’s partnership with NJPW.
