WWE and Netflix are teaming up for a deep dive into the wrestling world—and now, full details for WWE: Unreal have leaked ahead of its release next month.
The five-episode series officially lands on Netflix July 29 and promises to give fans an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at WWE, with production led by Omaha Productions, NFL Films, Skydance Sports, and WWE itself. Chris Weaver is directing the series with Erik Powers serving as showrunner.
According to POST Wrestling, sources close to the project compared the series to HBO’s Hard Knocks, and based on the episode breakdown, it looks like Unreal is ready to deliver. Here’s how the series stacks up:
Episode 1
Covers the WWE RAW premiere on Netflix at the Intuit Dome this past January. CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins headlines the episode, with additional focus on Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Rhea Ripley.
Episode 2
Dives into the men’s Royal Rumble, the Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens feud, and their ladder match at the Rumble. Jey Uso’s Rumble win also gets the spotlight.
Episode 3
The women’s division takes center stage. The episode follows Chelsea Green’s United States Title win, Charlotte Flair’s injury comeback, the Women’s Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber matches, and Bianca Belair. Both Rumble episodes will reportedly feature continuous, visually unique camera work tracking a wrestler through the entire match.
Episode 4
Focuses on John Cena’s shocking heel turn at Elimination Chamber and the secrecy surrounding it. The men’s Elimination Chamber match and New Day’s heel turn are also featured. This is the only episode with comments from WWE President Nick Khan, along with appearances from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Brian Gewirtz.
Episode 5
Covers WrestleMania 41 with matches including GUNTHER vs. Jey Uso, CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns, IYO SKY vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair, and Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena. There’s also a behind-the-scenes moment showing Triple H receiving notes for the next night’s RAW to highlight WWE’s ongoing creative process.
Interestingly, there’s no mention of The Rock’s absence from WrestleMania in the series, though Johnson stated on The Pat McAfee Show in April that he was never scheduled to appear.
