Demolition might finally be getting the recognition fans have been demanding for years.

The legendary tag team, made up of Bill Eadie (Ax) and Barry Darsow (Smash), has long been left out of the WWE Hall of Fame despite their undeniable impact on the industry. But it looks like that could be changing soon.

Sean Ross Sapp recently reported on Fightful Select’s Q&A podcast that WWE is seriously discussing Demolition for a Hall of Fame induction. “People wondered what that might mean for the Hall of Fame, and what I can tell you is that it has absolutely been discussed internally. Now, I don’t know if that means they’re going in this year or anything like that, but they have absolutely been brought up internally as potentially joining the WWE Hall of Fame, which is long overdue. One of the great teams of all time in WWE.”

This news comes after Demolition officially re-signed with WWE under Legends deals, a move that allows the company to feature them in merchandise, video games, and other promotional content. It’s a big shift considering their complicated history with WWE, which includes past legal battles over the Demolition name and their involvement in a class-action lawsuit against the company.

Eadie and Darsow recently spoke about the possibility of an induction during an interview on Hitting The Turnbuckle. Eadie made it clear that they were never against being inducted, saying, “Well, we never had an objection to going in (the WWE Hall of Fame). There was a lot of politics involved and now it’s changed like you say and hopefully, the change for the better with our relationship. But we’ve never been in contact with anybody from the office… the only person that made the decision for anything before was Vince (McMahon), and we weren’t on Vince’s like list, I guess.”

Darsow also revealed that they were actually invited to last year’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony but had to decline because they had already committed to another event. “Now last year at WrestleMania time, right before WrestleMania, they called us and they invited us to WrestleMania, and they invited us to the Hall of Fame, and that was a big change with Triple H in there. I’m sure that’s all his idea. We had to unfortunately turn them down because the person who brought us in, he paid for us to come in, and we were busy doing stuff with him so it wasn’t like we could just leave and jump ship and go over there, and I’m hoping they understood it and they should have. But, that was the first kind of, ‘Hey, you guys wanna come and be with us?’ So that was a good sign.”

With Triple H now steering the ship, there’s renewed optimism that WWE could finally give Demolition their long-overdue Hall of Fame induction. WrestleMania 41 week is set for Las Vegas in 2025, and if there was ever a time to make it happen, it’s now.
