Another familiar face is coming back to WWE—but this time, he’s trading in-ring action for teaching.

According to PWInsider.com, former WWE Tag Team Champion Doug Basham is expected to return to the company in June 2025 as a guest coach at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The word going around the facility is that Basham will be stepping into the role next month to help shape the future of WWE’s rising stars.

This update follows a report from a few weeks ago suggesting that WWE had been discussing bringing Basham in. Now it looks like it’s happening.

Best known for his run in the early-to-mid 2000s, Doug Basham was one-half of the Basham Brothers alongside Danny Basham. The duo captured the WWE Tag Team Championship twice and became a fixture on SmackDown, especially during their run as part of JBL’s Cabinet. Before that, they were standouts in Ohio Valley Wrestling, where they racked up multiple OVW Southern Tag Team Title reigns.

As a coach, Basham is expected to focus on in-ring fundamentals, character development, and the kind of television production awareness that can make or break a WWE Superstar. With NXT continuing to evolve under Triple H’s leadership, veterans like Basham offer the kind of old-school experience that helps bridge the gap between eras.
