Ariane Andrew is stepping out of the ring and into the alien apocalypse.
The former WWE star—known to fans as Cameron of The Funkadactyls—has landed a major role in the new BET+ original movie Onyx, which just premiered on the streaming platform. Andrew plays Shannon, a former Marine turned trauma survivor in this wild sci-fi thriller about friendship, healing, and an alien invasion.
The film follows three friends looking to escape their daily grind and support a pal dealing with a brutal breakup. What starts as a peaceful adventure camp in rural Arizona turns into a survival mission when aliens crash the party.
Andrew’s character isn’t just another action hero. “Shannon” is described as “a former Marine forced to step back from active duty with PTSD due to the atrocities she witnessed. Part therapist, part badass… yet bound by her own traumatic experiences.” She brings both grit and emotional depth to the role, with a backstory that makes her a standout in the chaos.
“Her training gives her the ability to help in any situation, and she wants to be the leader, an ultimate do-gooder, but just can’t shake the stress from the past,” according to the official character breakdown.
Outside of Hollywood, Andrew has kept her wrestling roots alive. She last competed in April 2024 for Pound Town Wrestling, the promotion she launched back in 2023.
From Funkadactyl to alien fighter—Ariane Andrew is keeping things unpredictable in the best way.
