Former WWE Superstar Abraham Washington, real name Brian Josie, went through a terrifying health ordeal last month that nearly took his life.
According to Duke Loves Rasslin, the ex-WWE talent was hospitalized in July 2025 and at one point had to be placed on life support. During the Duke Loves Rasslin podcast, host Duke shared the harrowing update:
“Brian Josie, so he was Abraham Washington, the WWE. In fact, he was the original manager for Prime Time Players. Brian Josie had some serious health issues last month. He was in the hospital for a while. He went in for one thing and then other things started happening. Next thing you know they had [him] on life support.”
Despite the scare, Josie managed to turn things around with the support of his longtime partner Marnae, who stayed by his side throughout the entire hospital stay.
“At one point he spent almost a month in the hospital and his lovely lady Marnae was there by his side the whole way.”
Duke also revealed that Josie had just competed in a bodybuilding tournament prior to the health crisis, making the sudden turn even more alarming. Thankfully, the former WWE personality is now back home and recovering well.
“To make a long story short, he recently was discharged, he’s back home and he’s actually able to walk on his own and everything. So almost a full recovery for this guy.”
Josie is best known for his time in WWE as the Abraham Washington character and as the original manager for the tag team Prime Time Players. Fans can find him on Instagram under Brian Josie and are encouraged to send words of support as he continues healing.
“Just want to give a shout out to Brian Josie and his family and let him know, man, you can’t stop a stepper, brother. Keep going. Thank God you’re OK.”
It’s a powerful reminder of how quickly things can change—even for athletes in peak physical condition.
