Nick Bonanno is back in the business—and he’s diving straight into the action at MLW’s Battle Riot event this Thursday in Orlando.
Bonanno, who previously worked on WWE’s NXT creative team, is officially returning to Major League Wrestling as both a writer and producer. His return marks a new creative chapter for MLW as the company pushes into 2026 with an eye toward strengthening its storytelling and backstage infrastructure.
After departing WWE in 2023, Bonanno kept a low profile. His exit from NXT wasn’t formally announced by the company, but it was tied to the broader shakeups that happened within WWE’s creative department during that year. Despite stepping away from the big leagues, Bonanno didn’t slow down—he transitioned into the independent scene and is currently serving as the booker for Gotham Wrestling out of Nyack, New York.
His return is seen internally as a boost for MLW’s creative process, especially given his ability to work with talent across different levels of experience. Bonanno’s return to MLW may not come with flashy fanfare, but it could be exactly what the promotion needs behind the curtain.
Do you think Nick Bonanno’s WWE background will help evolve MLW’s product, or should the company lean more into its underground identity? Sound off in the comments and let us know.
