Raj Dhesi — known to WWE fans as former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal — was spotted backstage at the sold-out February 21 NWA POWERRR double TV tapings in Tampa, Florida.
Ringside News has learned that Dhesi was in attendance at the event, appearing to visit friends on the NWA roster rather than working in an official capacity. Even so, his presence didn’t go unnoticed.
Dhesi was released by WWE in 2024 as part of a round of roster cuts, ending his second run with the company. He originally rose to prominence with a shocking WWE Championship victory in 2017 and later returned to WWE in 2021 after a previous release in 2014. His most recent exit once again made him a free agent.
Since parting ways with WWE, Dhesi has been active on the independent wrestling scene, taking bookings and staying busy in the ring, which makes his backstage appearance at NWA particularly interesting to fans watching where he could land next.
NWA is scheduled to return to Tampa on April 25 for its next set of studio television tapings.
Do you think Raj Dhesi could be eyeing a future in NWA, or was this strictly a friendly visit? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
