Oro Mensah didn’t waste any time after leaving WWE—he’s already back in the ring.
During the ROH TV tapings on July 30, 2025, in Chicago, the former NXT star made his first post-WWE appearance. Mensah, now going by “Oro,” faced off against NJPW legend Tomohiro Ishii. Although he came up short, losing to Ishii, his appearance alone is enough to get fans talking about where he might be headed next.
As of now, it’s unclear whether Oro has signed a deal with Ring of Honor or was simply brought in for the taping. But the fact that he showed up so quickly after his WWE exit has fans speculating about his next move.
Oro confirmed his departure from WWE back in May. In a heartfelt social media post, he reflected on his journey in pro wrestling: “15 years hard work and true sacrifice to make it to WWE. Always gave it my 110% and put my whole passion and body into the artform of pro-wrestling. Thank you for all the support! love y‘all.”
Mensah, real name Oliver Sauter, originally signed with WWE in 2019 under the name Oliver Carter and found success in NXT UK. After the brand was shut down, he was rebranded in the U.S. NXT system and became part of the Meta-Four faction. Ironically, Meta-Four split up during a segment on this week’s NXT—right before several of its members were released.
\Now Oro is officially a free agent—at least for now—and he’s already stepping back into the spotlight. Ringside News will keep you updated if we receive additional information about Oro’s contract status or future bookings.
