Colby Corino’s free agency just got a lot more interesting — and now the big players are paying attention.
It was previously reported that the second-generation wrestler officially became a free agent after his NWA contract expired on January 1, 2026. While that news quietly placed Corino on the open market, a new update adds a major twist to the story.
According to BodySlam, representatives from both WWE and AEW have already inquired about Corino’s contract status as he begins exploring his options. The interest is said to be early, but real, with both companies keeping tabs on the 29-year-old as he navigates his next move.
Despite the outside interest, Corino isn’t necessarily done with the NWA. The report notes that discussions are ongoing between Corino and the promotion regarding a possible new deal, meaning his future remains wide open.
WWE’s involvement isn’t new territory for Corino. In 2023, he and the company reportedly reached a verbal agreement for him to join the roster. That deal ultimately fell apart after a background check flagged prior legal issues. Even so, Corino later made it clear the situation didn’t end on bad terms.
“The bridge is not burned and the door is not closed.”
Corino’s free agency also comes during a difficult recovery period. In August 2025, he underwent emergency surgery on his neck and spine following a serious injury. At the time, Corino shared the gravity of the situation publicly.
“I went to the hospital on Thursday night and was told I needed emergency surgery on my neck and back… I don’t know if I’ll be in a wrestling ring anytime soon.”
The wrestling community quickly rallied around him, raising more than $20,000 through a GoFundMe campaign to help cover medical costs as he focused on recovery.
Before the injury, Corino had been a fixture in the NWA since 2019, capturing the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship and earning a reputation as one of the promotion’s most dependable performers. He also remained active across the independent scene in 2025, working with JCW, Appalachian Mountain Wrestling, and DEADLOCK Pro Wrestling.
As the son of ECW legend and current WWE NXT producer Steve Corino, his free agency naturally draws added attention — especially now that both WWE and AEW have reportedly checked in.
With his free agent status and BodySlam reporting early interest from wrestling’s two biggest companies, Colby Corino suddenly finds himself at a pivotal crossroads.
