The introduction of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship a few weeks ago sparked excitement among fans, with many wondering who would make history as the first-ever champion. A lot of fans were hoping to see Natalya take the title, but that won’t happen anymore after the events of the December 23rd taping of WWE RAW. As a result, many fans took to social media to express their displeasure and outrage.
During the December 23 episode of Monday Night RAW, Natalya, IYO Sky, and Alba Fyre competed in a triple threat match as part of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship tournament. In the end, IYO Sky emerged victorious after nailing the Over-the-Moonsault on Natalya and advanced in the tournament.
IYO Sky winning the match, especially by pinning Natalya, led to a ton of outrage from fans on social media. One fan took to Twitter and pointed out that IYO Sky had a busy two months, including a tag team title match at Crown Jewel, winning WarGames, and facing Liv Morgan for the championship. The fan then called out Triple H, upset that Natalya, who has been disrespected for years, didn’t get her chance.
“iyo had a tag team title match at crown jewel, won wargames and faced liv for the championship all in two months. @TripleH you couldn’t let Natalya who comes from literally being DISRESPECTED for years now get her moment? … #WWERaw #NatalyaDeservesBetter”
Another fan pointed out that not only did Sky win, but she pinned Natalya to become the winner and the fan was disappointed, saying, “so not only iyo won she also pinned natalya? get real.”
Another fan expressed frustration, saying they love IYO Sky but didn’t understand why she needed to win. They acknowledged IYO’s talent and reliability, which could add credibility to the tournament, but felt Natalya could do the same. The fan also pointed out that IYO had just had a championship match two days ago and questioned why she was getting another opportunity so soon.
“I love iyo but why tf did she need to win like yes she’s a really great and reliable worker who can give this tournament a lot more credibility but so can Natalya??? I literally just don’t get it plus she just had a championship match two days ago why tf again??? I’m Tired asf…”
Yet another fan pointed out that Natalya was the only legitimate winner for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship and believed that Natalya deserved it more than anyone, saying, “Natalya was the ONLY good winner for the ic title tournament she deserves it more than anyone.”
WrestleVotes previously reported that Natalya received internal support to become the first Women’s Intercontinental Champion. Unfortunately, Natalya no longer has the opportunity to make history, so we’ll have to wait and see whether she will end up getting a shot at the title in the future, as fans feel she more than deserves to be a champion.
