Alberto Del Rio’s name is back in the conversation, and this time it’s fans leading the charge.

A passionate supporter has launched a petition on Change.org asking WWE to re-sign the former World Champion—and the online response is starting to pick up steam.

The petition argues that Del Rio, real name José Alberto Rodríguez Chucuan, deserves a return spot in WWE because of his decorated career and impact on Mexican wrestling. The fan believes his return would bring real value to WWE’s global image and strengthen its connection with Latin American audiences.

“I am a huge Lucha Libre fan, and without a doubt, Alberto del Río is a great athlete, a pillar and representative of Mexican wrestling. Alberto del Río, whose real name is José Alberto Rodríguez Chucuan, has triumphed both nationally and internationally, leaving an indelible mark on millions of sports entertainment fans around the world.”

They also made it clear WWE could gain a lot from bringing him back—especially in terms of roster diversity and in-ring credibility.

“WWE, known for delivering quality wrestling shows, would greatly benefit from the return of Alberto del Río. His experience, talent, and charisma have made him one of the most complete and valuable wrestlers in the industry.”

The petition pushes for WWE to view Del Rio’s return as more than just business—it’s about representation and legacy.

“At a time when WWE is looking to diversify and strengthen its talent, bringing back a wrestler of Alberto del Río’s caliber would not only revitalize its programming but also serve as a powerful symbol of the quality and impact of Mexican wrestlers in the world of wrestling.”

And to cap it off, the fan invited others to rally behind the cause with a bold call to action.

“We call on WWE to seriously consider Alberto del Río’s return to its ranks. He will contribute significantly to sports entertainment, giving fans more reasons to be excited and celebrating Mexican talent on a global stage. Let’s sign this petition and look forward to celebrating his return at the iconic Angel of Independence! #AlbertoDelRíoEnWWE #WWE #LuchaLibreMexicana”

As of now, the petition has racked up 505 verified signatures—and that number’s growing. Del Rio, meanwhile, is currently involved in a Mexican reality TV show, but that hasn’t stopped fans from hoping he’ll make one more run in WWE.

And apparently, it’s not just the fans. According to chatter, big names like Roman Reigns, The Undertaker, and Cody Rhodes have all voiced support behind the scenes for Del Rio’s return following his exit from AAA.

So the question is now on the table: Is WWE ready for another Del Rio run?
