Matt Cardona hasn’t returned to WWE, but his name is definitely getting plenty of attention.

The former Intercontinental Champion has been mentioned multiple times on WWE programming over the last two weeks, sparking plenty of speculation about a potential comeback. It all started last week on SmackDown, when John Cena name-dropped Cardona during his promo battle with CM Punk.

Things escalated at WWE Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. During the post-show segment, while Triple H was being interviewed, fans inside the Kingdom Arena broke out into a loud “Matt Cardona” chant. Interestingly, no one on stage acknowledged the chants, but the crowd clearly wanted to make their presence felt.

Cardona wasn’t the only name the crowd threw out during the show. Fans also chanted “OTC,” “We love Mami,” and “WrestleMania” throughout the broadcast — but hearing Cardona’s name repeatedly from the international crowd has only fueled rumors about his future with the company.
