WWE Superstars pull inspiration from all kinds of pop culture (and their own imagination) when creating their on-screen personas, and their ring gear often includes shoutouts to other entertainment like music. Now, Raquel Rodriguez is getting attention for doing exactly that.
Pro wrestling stars like Swerve Strickland have paid homage to Tyler, The Creator in the past. Now, it seems that Raquel Rodriguez may have given some flowers to Taylor Swift.
After her appearance during the January 26 episode of WWE RAW, a few fans clocked Raquel Rodriguez’s ring gear as being Eras Tour-inspired, the Reputation set specifically. This caught attention outside of the usual WWE fan base.
A post on Facebook showed Raquel Rodriguez and the rest of the women in Judgment Day standing at ringside, and the caption pointed out that Raquel’s look seemed inspired by Taylor Swift’s backup dancers from the Reputation era. What makes it even funnier is that this was posted in a group called “Taylor Swift’s Vault” not a wrestling group. It’s a good reminder that WWE reaches way beyond just wrestling fans, and that this image clearly made it out of the wrestling bubble and into Swiftie territory.
"Any girlies watch WWE, see Raquel's fit and reminds them of the dancers for the Rep era?"
Tons of comments flooded the post, most of them continuing with the joke that Big Sexy borrowed from Travis Kelce’s fiancée.
People were cracking up about it in the comments, with one person straight up saying, “the crossover i needed wrestling girlies hmu please !! lmao” which honestly sums up the whole vibe. Another fan added some interesting context too, pointing out that “Sometimes livs gear designer will make outfits for Raquel & he usually shares what the inspo was or came from. not sure if he did this one but I know he did rox & livs.” So it’s not even far-fetched that the look could’ve been intentional.
And of course, it turned into a mini Judgment Day lovefest in the replies. Someone said, “Freaking love Judgement Day!! I miss Dirty Dom!” while another person admitted their first thought wasn’t even Taylor Swift, it was “I thought Deadpool lol”. Either way, everyone seemed to enjoy the overlap, especially with one comment perfectly putting it as “When our two favorite things cross over”.
We will have to see if Raquel Rodriguez says anything to confirm or deny this Taylor Swift inspiration. Either way, she will concentrate on dealing out her own kind of karma at the Royal Rumble.
