WWE released a few Superstars in 2024, and many of them have already found their footing elsewhere. Now, the former Baron Corbin, who is now using his actual name, is diving into Game Changing Wrestling.
In his first match since that WWE release, Tom Pestock took on Josh Barnett in a Bloodsport match. That was a big highlight of The People vs GCW pay-per-view, to say the least.
The pro wrestling world has been buzzing about what will happen in this Bloodsport match since it was announced. The former Baron Corbin has a bit of MMA training, and he’s a two-time Golden Glove Champion, but he has never been put to the test like this against Josh Barnett.
This match was the main event of the pay-per-view for GCW tonight. Fans in the building were more than ready to see the Bloodsport action first-hand, as both competitors received a nice reception on the way to the ropeless ring.
In the end, Tom Pestock lost to Josh Barnett. This was not for lack of trying, and fans gave him a lot of respect. Barnett also showed respect to the former Baron Corbin as the two shook hands in the middle of the ring. He also received “Please Come Back” chants from the GCW fans.
In recent memory, Tom Pestock has defended Tony Khan locking down contracts, like he is doing with Fenix. That being said, he has since denied any intention of joining All Elite Wrestling. He has also stated some hesitation about signing another pro wrestling deal.
We will have to see what is next for Tom Pestock, but it seems that he is off to quite a start in GCW. Only time will tell how many more Bloodsport matches are in his future.
