Shortly after Ava (Simone Johnson) announced her departure from WWE, former NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler has publicly thrown her name in the hat for the now-vacant NXT General Manager position.
Baszler posted a GIF of herself pointing at her chest, followed by a direct tweet on X (formerly Twitter) that read:
“Oh? @WWENXT needs a new GM.”
The timing couldn’t be more pointed. Ava officially confirmed that her appearance on this past Tuesday’s episode of NXT marked her final one with WWE. In her Instagram statement, she thanked fans and called it “a new turning point” in her life, ending her chapter as the youngest General Manager in WWE history.
Now Baszler seems to be making her interest known in the most straightforward way possible. A decorated competitor and former NXT standout, Baszler would bring a gritty, no-nonsense energy to the GM role—something that would fit right in. Whether WWE will seriously consider her remains to be seen, but her public pitch has officially made her a candidate to watch.
Would you want to see Shayna Baszler take over as NXT General Manager? Or should WWE go in a different direction entirely? Let us know your pick in the comments.
