Cain Velasquez is officially a free man — and he’s already planning his next move.
The former UFC heavyweight champion was released on parole today, February 15, 2026, closing a chapter that’s defined his life since his 2022 arrest. But instead of talking about a comeback fight, Velasquez is talking about breathwork.
Velasquez jumped on Instagram to reveal he’s considering hosting a one-day holotropic breathing seminar in the San Jose, California area — a paid, limited-capacity event centered on mental reset, stress release, and spiritual clarity. In his own words:
“After my release on February 15th, I’m exploring the idea of hosting a one-day Holotropic Breathing Seminar in the San Jose area. Breathwork has been a powerful tool for me—physically, mentally, and spiritually—and I’d like to share it with others in a focused, intentional setting.”
The seminar wouldn’t just be guided breathing. Velasquez says it would also include a meet and greet, Q&A session, group photo, and shared conversation with attendees. He’s currently gauging interest online before locking in the details.
Of course, this new direction comes after a serious legal saga that rocked the MMA world. In February 2022, Velasquez was arrested following a high-speed chase in Santa Clara County. Authorities said he fired a handgun at a vehicle carrying Harry Goularte, a man accused of sexually abusing Velasquez’s young son. Goularte’s stepfather was struck in the arm and torso during the incident but survived.
In August 2024, Velasquez pleaded no contest to attempted murder, felony assault with a firearm, and shooting at a motor vehicle. He was sentenced to five years in prison, but credit for time already served in custody and under house arrest made him eligible for parole in early 2026.
And now, that day has arrived. Instead of stepping back into the Octagon, Velasquez appears focused on healing — mentally, emotionally, and spiritually — and bringing others along with him. From UFC champion to breathwork coach, it’s a dramatic pivot that no one saw coming.
