Eva Marie finally opened up about one of the wildest moments of her WWE run—and it turns out John Cena had something to say about it too.
During a recent sit-down with Ring The Belle, Eva Marie was asked about the now-viral 2016 SmackDown Live incident where she nearly suffered a full-blown wardrobe malfunction just moments before her scheduled match against Becky Lynch. The match never even happened. While warming up in the ring, Eva’s gear popped and chaos followed.
“Dude, this was wild. This one was so crazy,” Eva recalled. “Yeah, that’s when I was like ‘What the—?’ As soon as we went live… and we went to PG, right, we all got told—because there had been previous like, you know, little nip slips from the girls. Like how could there not be? You’re literally wrestling in a damn bikini.”
She went on to explain that WWE had procedures in place to avoid exactly that: “You’re supposed to wear little pasties and then you’re supposed to tape like literally everything. Thank goodness because in this specific one, I’m all taped up. So even if worst-case scenario, we would have still been all good.”
But the best part of the story came after the match—when none other than John Cena pulled her aside with some unexpected encouragement.
“I remember when I came back, John Cena happened to be there that day and he was like, ‘Way to go, kid.’ Like way to basically not f**k up and flash the whole entire stadium.”
Eva laughed while recalling the surreal moment, saying she was on the apron thinking, “Did this sht really pop? Like damn, is nobody gonna help me?”*
Even though it was a close call, Eva Marie kept her composure, and clearly, Cena took notice.
