Ethan Page is already fired up heading into tonight’s WWE NXT episode—and not just because he’s defending his North American Championship. Just 30 minutes before the June 10 broadcast, WWE dropped a backstage promo featuring Page unloading on NXT GM Ava and threatening to take things directly to management.
Page, who retained his title in a chaotic fatal four-way at WWE x AAA Worlds Collide, said he’s tired of being disrespected despite carrying the North American Championship.
“What truly makes me the greatest North American to ever hold the North American Championship? Well, for starters, I’m fulfilling obligations that were not set by me. They were set by the former North American champion, that bum Ricky Saints. And here I am, a man of his word, fulfilling set obligations.”
Page is scheduled to defend his title tonight against Sean Legacy, but he made it clear he’s already thinking bigger—and not happy about Ava’s handling of his title reign.
“Look, I’m very happy that Ava can continue to keep her promises to everyone else on the roster but me. Well, clearly Ava would like to stack the deck against All Ego Ethan Page.”
He called out his title defense at Worlds Collide as proof he’s been carrying the brand under pressure, and warned Ava what’s coming next.
“My mind’s already focused on what’s next. And what’s next for me is a perfectly worded e-mail to NXT management, including you, Ava, so I can complain about how poorly you’ve been treating the number one talent on your roster.”
He finished by doubling down on how he expects to be treated moving forward.
“The greatest North American to ever hold the North American Championship. And I would like to start to be treated like that. That would be fantastic.”
Page may have a title match tonight, but it’s clear he’s playing offense in more ways than one.
As a reminder, Ringside News will have live play-by-play coverage of NXT over in our results section.
