It’s been five years since the wrestling world lost one of its most beloved stars, Brodie Lee—and at a WWE live event in Rochester, New York, his former tag team partner Erick Rowan made sure his legacy was honored in the best way.
During the live event in Brodie Lee’s hometown, fans began chanting the late wrestler’s name. Rowan, visibly moved, stepped up to the mic and delivered a deeply emotional tribute to his longtime friend and former tag team partner.
“I hear you guys. It’s been five years since we last saw him. Five long years, and this was his home. This is the place he talked about. This is the place that he loved—Rochester, New York.”
The tribute didn’t end there. Rowan recalled a heartfelt memory Lee once shared about one of his favorite local spots.
“And he told me about a place called Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. That’s some pretty damn good food.”
And then, in a moment that left fans in chills, Rowan connected Brodie’s memory to that of another fallen brother—Bray Wyatt.
“And I couldn’t be here tonight without this man’s—brother, Bray.”
Brodie Lee tragically passed away on December 26, 2020, due to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis — a rare and incurable condition that causes scarring of the lungs, making it increasingly difficult to breathe. He was just 41 years old.
Whether performing as Luke Harper in WWE or Brodie Lee in AEW, Huber’s legacy lives on through the countless tributes, charity work and stories from those who knew him best. And in that ring in Rochester, his presence was felt once again—loud, proud, and emotional.
