Speculation is running high that Goldberg’s final match could take place during WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, with the timing aligning perfectly to make it a massive event.
On the May 30, 2025 episode of 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff discussed the possibility of this match being Goldberg’s swan song and how it could directly compete with AEW’s All In stadium show.
Conrad Thompson, hosting the episode, floated the idea that Goldberg’s retirement could be tied to WWE’s major shows in Atlanta, including NXT’s Great American Bash, Evolution, and the highly anticipated Saturday Night’s Main Event. Thompson made the case that the location and timing were perfect for Goldberg’s big send-off.
“Bill Goldberg’s last match. We’ve heard that Goldberg is working on his last match. We’ve heard that he’s planning his WWE retirement. It’s coming up soon. He said in interviews it’s happening down south. Where else would it make sense for Goldberg to have his last match other than Atlanta?”
“And what a big attraction—since you’re out of the pay-per-view business—to say that you’re going to give Goldberg’s last match to NBC, live, for Saturday Night’s Main Event. Like, no one has told me this. I’m just saying, boy, isn’t that logical that this would be the home of Goldberg’s last match, head-to-head with AEW All In?”
Eric Bischoff agreed with Conrad’s theory, calling the idea “cool” and suggesting that it would be a huge draw for WWE. He also mentioned that this could be one of the biggest ratings for Saturday Night’s Main Event in recent memory.
“It’s pretty cool. And it’ll do very well. Good for Bill. Good for Saturday Night’s Main Event because that’s going to be a hell of a show. Should get a pretty big number.”
“I read the other day that the last Saturday Night’s Main Event did really well—one of the better ratings they’ve had. This will probably be bigger than that. So that’s cool.”
However, Bischoff didn’t stop there—he made an important point about the legacy of Goldberg’s rise in WWE, particularly his connection with Hulk Hogan. Bischoff pointed out that Hogan had been instrumental in elevating Goldberg in WCW and believed that having Hogan involved in Goldberg’s final match would complete the story.
“It was Atlanta. It was Hulk Hogan that said, ‘I want to get Bill Goldberg over as much as I can,’ and volunteered to do business with Bill in Atlanta. That wasn’t my idea. That wasn’t Bill’s idea. That wasn’t Ted Turner’s idea. That was Hulk Hogan’s idea—because he believed that much in Bill Goldberg.”
“To not have Hulk there for a match like this would be, I don’t know, an incomplete story.”
With these comments, Bischoff solidifies the importance of Hulk Hogan in Goldberg’s journey and suggests that his presence at Goldberg’s final match would make sense, especially in the context of the Atlanta location.
As the possibility of Goldberg’s last match at Saturday Night’s Main Event grows more likely, fans are left wondering if Hogan will indeed be involved in this major moment.
