Eric Bischoff isn’t counting out TNA Wrestling anymore—in fact, he thinks they’re one move away from overtaking AEW as the number two promotion in the business.

During an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Bischoff praised the current direction of TNA Wrestling and made a bold prediction about their future, especially after the success of TNA Slammiversary at UBS Arena, which drew over 7,000 fans for their biggest North American crowd ever.

“They are one deal away from being a major player. If they get a broadcast partner. If they get the right broadcast situation… they have the product. They know what they’re doing. Good team of people. They just need a bigger platform. If they get it, watch them take off.”

Bischoff admitted he previously wrote off the company but is now impressed by the progress. When asked if TNA could potentially surpass AEW’s spot in the wrestling hierarchy, Bischoff didn’t hesitate.

“By this time next year. Depends on the TV deal. With the right television partner. What’s number two? By what measure do you define number two? In terms of television ratings and popularity, they could be number two in a minute.”

AEW All In drew around 30,000 fans the week prior to TNA’s Slammiversary, but with TNA’s current momentum and ongoing negotiations, the conversation could shift fast. TNA iMPACT! currently airs on AXS TV and TNA+, but President Carlos Silva has already teased that a new television deal may be in the works.

Bischoff, who is currently promoting his new Real American Freestyle promotion launching August 30 in Cleveland, clearly sees big things ahead for the brand he once dismissed.

TNA’s comeback might just be one broadcast contract away from rewriting the wrestling landscape—and if Bischoff’s instincts are right, AEW better keep an eye on the rearview.
