Eric Bischoff didn’t hold back when talking about the May 24, 2025 episode of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
During a recent episode of his podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer broke down why he felt the show completely missed the mark—and it started right from the opening match.
Bischoff said the pacing of the show ruined the overall experience for him. While he admitted there were a few moments that stood out, he said the rushed flow and lack of structure made it hard to stay engaged.
“Biggest takeaway for me, which affected everything that I say from this point forward, the pace was horrible. It was so obvious in the very first match. Everything felt rushed. That match was just ping ping ping. I mean, it was just the pace of that match and it was consistent from the very beginning to the very end. It’s like bing bing bing bing bing bing finish.”
He added that the awkward pacing prevented the matches from developing naturally and stripped the show of its ability to build drama.
“There was no ebbs and flows in it… it just took me out of it. There’s no reason for me once they made it to the ring to really invest. Didn’t give me a reason.”
Bischoff also took issue with what he called “awkward” moments in the ring, noting specific issues with the performers’ footwork. While he admitted most fans might not notice, it stood out to him because of how the rushed pace made the mistakes more noticeable.
“It’s footwork stuff more than anything else. And probably I’m falling into the [ __ ] zone for even bringing this up because most people probably don’t notice it or care, but I did.”
On top of the in-ring concerns, Bischoff also slammed the show’s long commercial breaks.
“Those supersized commercial breaks, I mean, I wasn’t timing them because I had enough time to get up and go do something else and then come back before the show started, and I’m not exaggerating.”
While Bischoff is no stranger to critiquing wrestling product, his issues with this episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event were especially detailed, pointing to structural problems that he believes pull viewers out of the moment.
