The demise of WCW remains a significant topic of discussion in the wrestling community, attributed to a multitude of factors. Given the complexity of its downfall, a new docuseries focusing on WCW’s demise has garnered attention. In fact, Eric Bischoff recently shed light on his initial reluctance to participate in the project.

As previously reported, the ”Who Killed WCW?” docuseries was produced by Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions and the series premiered on June 4 on VICE TV. The show has been focusing on the rise and fall of WCW and who was truly responsible for it.

During the latest episode of Wise Choices, Eric Bischoff shared insights about the docuseries “Who Killed WCW?” on VICE. Initially hesitant to participate, Bischoff revealed his reservations due to the repetitive nature of previous analyses of WCW, which often relied on sensationalized narratives and third-party accounts.

However, his perspective shifted when he encountered Guy Evans’ well-researched book on WCW, recognizing the potential for a deeper exploration of the story. This recognition prompted the producers of Seven Bucks to pursue a more comprehensive narrative beyond the conventional storytelling.

“I’ll be honest with you, when I first got the phone call I was hesitant to do it, to get involved in another analysis of WCW. Because just about everybody — not just about, everybody that’s approached it from a television point of view thus far has pretty much tried to tell the same story. And they’re living off of the dirtsheet narrative, second, third-hand information. Just a lot of kind of folklore more than anything. Guy Evans came along, wrote a great book about WCW. And I think the producers of Seven Bucks saw that book and said, “Wait a minute, there’s more story to tell.”

We have also revealed The Rock’s involvement in the project. We will have to wait and see how ‘Who Killed WCW?’ will turn out as there are still a few more episodes left to release which will likely shed more light on the whole debacle.
