Eric Bischoff Blasts AEW vs WWE Drama Over Sting and Lex Luger Hall of Fame Situation

The drama over whether Sting will return to WWE to induct Lex Luger into the Hall of Fame just got a reality check—straight from Eric Bischoff. The former WCW boss didn’t hold back on his 83 Weeks podcast, weighing in on the reported tension between AEW and WWE over the whole situation.

With Lex Luger requesting Sting to induct him, and WWE reportedly giving it the green light, “That put the ball in Tony Khan’s court,” according to Dave Meltzer. But Bischoff isn’t impressed with the supposed hesitation from AEW’s boss.

“Falls into the stupid [ __ ] category for me. It’s just silliness,” Bischoff said bluntly. He pointed out that this isn’t about WWE leadership trying to pull strings—“It’s not Triple H… It’s not Nick Khan. It’s not Ari Emanuel. It’s Lex Luger. That’s his privilege. It should be. It’s important to him.”

Bischoff then called out what he sees as petty behavior from AEW’s side if they refuse to let Sting appear just to “get even” for WWE’s past slights. “If Tony believes, like Dave Meltzer suggests, ‘Well, you wouldn’t do it for me, so I’m not going to do it for you’—if you’re gonna take that kind of infant attitude to your business, then you’re going to get what you’re going to get.”

He offered a different perspective: use the moment to rise above. “Now is the time that I would prove I’m bigger than them… Because you’re not doing it for WWE. You’re doing it for Lex Luger. And that’s what would make you the better man.”

While Meltzer suggested AEW could try to negotiate a trade—like a plug for one of their shows or even an apology for the infamous “pissant company” line—Bischoff thinks that’s missing the point entirely.

At the end of the day, this isn’t about business politics. It’s about giving a wrestling legend the moment he wants.
