Enzo Amore has never been shy about owning his past, and one of the most infamous stories from his WWE developmental days still follows him years later.

During a conversation with D-Von Dudley, where he discussed his early time in NXT, Enzo revisited the now-legendary moment when he crossed a line in promo class under the watchful eye of Dusty Rhodes — a moment he genuinely believed was creative genius at the time.

The incident took place during a promo class when Baron Corbin was repeatedly cutting the same promo while Dusty went around the room asking for feedback. Enzo explained that the session dragged on so long that he felt there was nothing left to add verbally. When Dusty finally called on him, Enzo decided to respond in a way he thought would demonstrate timing, delivery, and crowd reaction rather than critique.

“So Dusty goes around the room asking everybody, ‘What do you think he could do better?’ And I’m sitting there for so long. This promo’s going on for [ __ ] far too long… When he finishes, I raise my hand. Dusty goes, ‘What do you got?’ And I just let out the loudest fart of all time.”

Enzo said the reaction in the room was instant and intense, but it wasn’t the one he expected. Rather than laughing it off or appreciating the performance aspect, Dusty immediately shut it down in a way only Dusty Rhodes could.

“Dusty looked at me and goes, ‘Elio, come here.’ I walked over to him. He put his hand out, I put my hand in his hand, and he walked me to the door. He gets to the door and goes, ‘Get the [ __ ] out.’”

At the time, Enzo admitted he was genuinely confused by the response. In his mind, he thought he had delivered something memorable that got a reaction from everyone in the room — exactly what wrestling promos are supposed to do.

“I honestly thought he was going to think it was my promo. I really did. In my brain, I was like, that’s a performance. You can’t teach that. The timing, the delivery — I got every emotion in the room. People were angry, people were mad, people were in shock, people were absolutely disgusted.”

While Dusty clearly didn’t see it that way, Enzo noted that not everyone in the room was upset. According to him, at least one future world champion couldn’t stop laughing.

“Kevin Owens said he busted out laughing. He said he just lost it. And that became this lore that followed me forever.”

Looking back, Enzo acknowledged that the moment became a defining story attached to his name, and he now understands why it didn’t land the way he hoped. He also admitted that his mindset at the time — believing he didn’t need promo class — likely played a role in how the situation unfolded.

“I wish we could get past it now, because I’d never fart in a promo class again. But at that time, I didn’t think I needed promo class — and that was probably my issue.”

Years later, the story remains a snapshot of Enzo Amore’s confidence, creativity, and occasional misjudgment during his rise through WWE’s system — and a reminder of how unforgiving developmental could be under legends like Dusty Rhodes.
