The January 20 episode of NXT was a good show, and it was non-stop action the whole time. The night opened up with a title match that also marked the in-ring debut for a new masked Superstar.
Elio LeFleur is now in NXT as a masked French luchador. This is an interesting combo, but he wears a mask well and certainly matches the lucha skill set.
LeFleur was booked to face Ethan Page for the NXT North American Title in his first match, no easy task. They kicked off this week’s episode of NXT, and fans were more than ready to see the new Superstar in action.
After showing off some of his quick skills, Elio LeFleur really upset Ethan Page. The NXT North American Champion is also the AAA Mixed Tag Team Champion, alongside Chelsea Green, but only one title was on the line in this contest.
This match went to the outside, where the newcomer turned Ethan Page inside out with a flipping move, and then they returned to the ring to continue the match. Eventually, Page took control of the contest and the French luchador sold for All Ego. Then they cut to commercial break for a word from our sponsors.
When we came back, Elio LeFleur pulled off a flurry of offense on Ethan Page, and the champion sold a bit. Then LeFleur reversed a move from Page into a DDT and landed a moonsault to the outside before nailing a springboard knee to the temple for a three count.
This was an impressive debut for LeFluer, and he certainly showed off some high flying action, including a coast to coast. However, Ethan Page was able to get the upperhand in the end and he pulled off a powerbomb and kept hold of the luchador’s tights during a pinfall to win and retain the title.
