Tattoos might seem like a form of personal expression—but when you’re working under WWE’s watch, even your ink can land you in hot water. Former WWE NXT star Elayna Black, formerly known as Cora Jade, says she caught heat from the company after getting a tattoo across her chest without asking permission. And now? She can’t stand it.
On Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Black opened up about the tattoo that reads “Starve the ego, Feed the soul”—a decision she admits was impulsive and emotional at the time.
“It was before my boob job so I was like ‘well I’ve got nothing on here I’m going to get something… like I need some type of decoration or something.’ Then I saw that tattoo on Pinterest on somebody and I was like ‘oh that looks cool,’ and then I was going through a lot at the time, nothing new for me clearly, I was working out at the gym and I finished my workout and I was like ‘I’m going to go get that tattoo.’ Went and got it, didn’t even ask WWE, I ended up getting in trouble a little bit actually.”
Elayna didn’t go into specifics about what kind of trouble WWE gave her, but the message was clear: the tattoo wasn’t approved and didn’t go over well. Now that she’s out of WWE, she admits she’s not a fan of it herself.
“I was more than happy to get it covered up with something else, or removed… but it’s probably going to hurt so bad, so I’m scared.”
While she regrets the chest ink, she’s thankful she didn’t follow through with an even more questionable idea she once had: getting the WWE logo tattooed behind her ear. Instead, she opted for a wrestling ring—still meaningful, but without tying her permanently to one company.
“I’ve got a wrestling ring behind my ear, good thing I didn’t get the WWE logo because I almost did.”
Elayna Black may have moved on from her WWE persona, but this tattoo serves as a permanent reminder of a time in her life she’s now distancing herself from.
