Elayna Black has a great relationship with CM Punk and he’s always been there for her. That’s why many people assumed her Chicago gear was based on CM Punk but now she has cleared up that assumption.
While speaking during a Highspots Wrestling signing, Elayna Black explained the story behind her Chicago-themed gear. She said she had someone design it for her, usually giving him a rough idea and letting him come up with something great.
The little stars were meant to represent the Chicago flag because she’s from Chicago, but she noted that many people assumed it was for CM Punk since everyone associates the Chicago flag with him. While it clearly wasn’t inspired by CM Punk, she didn’t mind either way.
On the back, it says “jade” with more stars, and she also included a small barbed wire heart, which is actually a tattoo she has on her leg. So the gear features both the stars and that personal barbed wire heart design.
“I had someone design this. I would always just give him like a draft of an idea and he would always come up with great stuff. I wanted the little stars because I’m from Chicago—it’s a Chicago flag. Everyone thought it was for CM Punk because everyone thinks the Chicago flag is CM Punk’s flag, but hey, it’s fine, either one. And then ‘jade’ on the back here with more stars. This is actually, fun fact, a tattoo that I have on my leg—this little barbed wire heart. So you get stars and a little barbed wire heart.”
Elayna Black is currently keeping herself busy in the independent circuit after her WWE release and it’s clear she will always be grateful to CM Punk for everything he did for her. The gear might not have been inspired by him, but fans are glad to see she doesn’t mind if people think otherwise.
