Elayna Black isn’t looking back. The former WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, known to WWE fans as Cora Jade, is done with the idea of returning to the company that released her—and she made that crystal clear in a recent interview.

Speaking on the Power Alpha Podcast, Black reflected on losing her WWE dream job, but made it known that even if the company called her tomorrow, she’d pass on the offer.

“Everything happens for a reason. Again, I’m never going to bash WWE. I loved my time there.”

Despite the positive attitude toward her WWE run, Black made her current stance clear.

“Did I want to lose my dream job? No, but if they called me tomorrow and asked me to come back, I would say no because right now is the time.”

Black admitted the news was tough to process, but she’s already focused on what’s ahead.

“I’m excited now. Obviously, I’m past the initial shock of it all and obviously it comes in waves.”

Comparing the release to a breakup, Black opened up about the emotional toll but stressed that her passion for wrestling hasn’t changed.

“I come home and I’m like ‘S**t, I really did lose my dream job.’ But I feel very excited about the future.”

Black isn’t closing the door on wrestling—in fact, she’s more motivated than ever.

“Who knows where I’m going to end up. I’m 24 years old. I don’t know where I’ll end up. Whatever company it is, wherever I end up, I do know that I’m not done wrestling and I do want to continue wrestling.”

Wrestling has been her life since childhood, and that hasn’t changed.

“It’s the only thing I’ve ever known since I was 8 years old. 16 years of my life now has been dedicated to making it to WWE, and now it’s almost like a breakup in a way.”

Black appeared on AEW Dark in 2020, and speculation is already swirling that AEW could be her next stop. CM Punk recently showed his support for Black on social media, calling her a “dream chaser” and encouraging her to “turn it to gold.”

Losing her WWE job might’ve stung, but Elayna Black isn’t crying over it—she’s already got her sights set on what’s next. Whether that means AEW, the indies, or somewhere totally unexpected, one thing’s for sure: she’s not done proving herself.
