WWE’s El Grande Americano came dangerously close to losing his mask during a chaotic moment at AAA Rey De Reyes, after a celebration quickly turned into an ambush.

The incident happened during night two of the AAA Rey De Reyes event, where El Grande Americano — portrayed by Ludwig Kaiser — was scheduled to receive the prestigious Rey De Reyes sword following his major victory the week prior.

Kaiser earned the honor after winning a four-way match that included La Parka, Santos Escobar, and the Original El Grande Americano, played by Chad Gable. The ceremony was meant to celebrate that victory, but things quickly spiraled out of control.

During the presentation, Americano delivered an emotional message to the crowd, speaking about pride and identity before the situation took a violent turn.

“The pride of Mexicans is not the color of your skin.”

“The pride of Mexico is the culture, the people, because the people of Mexico are the most beloved and because a Mexican is born wherever he wants.”

Moments later, the celebration was interrupted by AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio, creating tension inside the ring. That distraction opened the door for the Original El Grande Americano to strike from behind. Chad Gable’s version of Americano launched a sudden attack and attempted to rip Kaiser’s mask off — a move that would have exposed his identity and permanently changed the storyline. The moment nearly succeeded before allies rushed in to stop the unmasking.

Los Americanos — Rayo (Pete Dunne) and Bravo (Tyler Bate) — stormed in to make the save, preventing the mask from being removed and preserving Kaiser’s identity for now.

The near-unmasking moment has only intensified the rivalry between the two Americanos. With both characters claiming to be the true El Grande Americano, the feud appears to be building toward a decisive showdown that could carry major consequences.

Do you think WWE and AAA should book a mask vs. mask match between the two Americanos, or should they settle the feud another way? Let us know your thoughts and leave your feedback below.
