The NXT Vengeance Day premium live event featured Eddy Thorpe and Trick Williams in a brutal Strap Match, which saw Thorpe pull off the upset win. However, not everyone was happy with his win, and now Thorpe has accused a fan of dismissing his Indigenous identity after the show.

After Eddy Thorpe defeated Trick Williams at NXT Vengeance Day, popular podcaster JDfromNY took to Twitter and questioned his presence on the show, saying they felt no connection to him and wondered why he was featured, as he said, “I have zero connection to Eddy Thorpe. How, and why is this man a thing on this show? #VengeanceDay.”

Eddy Thorpe took to Twitter and accused JDfromNY of having a narrow mindset and ignoring the fact that many people connect with him and what he represents. He stated the fan couldn’t relate to an Indigenous character out of bias.

The NXT Superstar also called out others like that fan, stating his Twitter feed is full of similar comments from people who think they know better.

“A man with zero perspective outside of his own. The fact that there ARE people that connect to me and what I represent and it means a whole lot. No surprise that a guy like you can’t find it in him to connect to an indigenous character. My Feed is full of this.

The first part is one conversation. But the dumbest and most laughable part is for this guy (or the others like him) to think he knows better.”

In the end, Eddy Thorpe simply wants to be a figure of representation for Indigenous people and that is why it comes as no surprise he didn’t like what the fan had to say and quickly shut him down. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see what WWE has planned for Thorpe in the coming weeks, as his win over Trick Williams definitely gave him momentum.
